Wikis are a wonderful web-based tool that is perfect for collaboration. How can it be used? The sky is the limit. If you are an administrator, they are a perfect device for organizing school-based committees as they allow for document development, posting, and have built in discussion areas. If you're a teacher, then you can use a wiki as a resource for your classroom or as a home for your students to collaborate on projects. In this course, participants will learn how to create their own wikispace, use the tools, and embed products developed outside of the wiki to increase its functionality. Professional and classroom ideas for implementing wikis will be presented and discussed.

The first part of this workshop will explore the foundations of digital storytelling. Before the first picture is chosen, word is spoken, or application is used, what is it that makes a digital story great?
One word: Content!
Participants will learn the fundamentals of guiding their students through building the digital story including the appropriate ways to locate picture resources and music that can be freely used. Participants will also be introduced to a variety of tools used for producing digital stories, with a focus on a few recommended ones.
By the end of Part I, participants will have gathered digital resources and will develop the foundation for their digital story, which will be completed in Part II.

The second part of this workshop will focus on the creation of the digital story itself with pictures as the main media. Voice and music may also be integrated. Participants will choose from the introduced tools to produce a story of their own.
